Poll: McCain Trounces Obama Among White Evangelicals
Despite the lack of enthusiasm for his candidacy among some Christian conservative activists, Sen. John McCain so far is performing well among rank and file evangelical voters. A Washington Post-ABC News poll released this week found McCain collecting about 68 percent of the white evangelical vote, compared to Barack Obama's 22 percent. That number is very similar to level of support President Bush received in June 2004.

Thats a good question, I wonder how many non-white evangelicals there are too...The only thing I could find out of a quick search is some guy's essay about how evangelicals hate black people and a website called evangelicalsformitt.com!haha!

I wonder as well. I think McCain's running mate will make a difference. If he choses a pro-choice running mate, he could get more Clinton supporters and lose evangelicals. Or he if he gets a pro-life running mate, he will probably lose some of the Clinton cross overs but keep evangelicals. I heard that Romney actually polls well with evangelicals. I wonder how many non-white evangelicals there are out there. I noticed this poll was only about white evangelicals. So many variables!

I would be interested in how committed that 22% is. I wonder if they get pressured enough if they will change their minds.I'm not condoning that, I'm just wondering.

Rac you crack me up!"Well it has been said on other threads that Obama has a strong evangelical following. I think 20-30% was the number."Doesn't 22% fall into that range?

I just read this in Today's Klansman: "McCain Trounces Obama Among White Supremacists!" Obama had better start increasing his positives in that area.

Definitely not surprising. I think the only difference could be in voter turn out.
