Princess Diana on Newsweek Cover

Imagining Diana at 50: Are You Curious?

This Friday, July 1, would have been Princess Diana's 50th birthday, so this week's issue of Newsweek imagines what Diana's life would be like if she were alive at 50.

The issue's cover features a superimposed image of a digitally aged Diana walking with Kate Middleton, and the story inside includes everything from what her Facebook page and Twitter would look like to her future fashion to her imagined love life — according to the magazine, she would have been married two more times.

Do you find this all interesting, or does it seem a bit on the morbid side, maybe even disrespectful?

I think this is kind of cruel to Prince William, who is probably already wishing his mom could meet his wife. Kind of a slap in the face to the royal family.

I agree with GZO. This could have been a great tribute to the late Princess (and even I'm willing to admit to wondering what the world would have been like if she was still alive), but it derailed into tabloid-esque speculation. Bad move, Newsweek!

I'm sure we would have all liked to see Diana around today--who doesn't wonder "what if" whenever anyone passes? I thought the article was interesting, although it made way too many baseless assumptions about what her life would have been like (Married two more times? Shrewdly picking her husbands because of their worth? Competition with Kate?). The "present-day" pictures, especially the cover one with Kate, definitely bothered me, as I'm sure they would bother anyone who knew her personally, most especially her sons. I think what could have been a nice tribute--"the world would be a better place if Diana were still in it"--just kind of went in the wrong direction.

Not to mention-they made her look like an aneorexic tranny. Great job, Newsweek! Bastards.

This is pretty awful. Di was an actual human being who was victim of a tragic death, and she's STILL not being left alone.

The thought of it is bad enough, the little bit I read of the article is thoroughly obnoxious - Brown's hit a new low.

I don't like this.
