Relationship Protocol: Who Is More of a Slob?

When you're in a relationship and either living together or spending significant amounts of time together, it's easy to get comfortable and revert to your single woman habits — bras on the doorknob, piles of clothes on your armchair, and excess hair in your bush. Of course the same thing goes with men — gym shorts on the bathroom floor and wet towels on the bed — but I think the notion that men are bigger slobs than women isn't always the case. In fact, most guys I know are complete neat freaks whereas I, admittedly, am not! So to all you coupled up women out there, be honest, who's more of slob, you or your significant other?

We're both Virgos, so of course we're overly meticulous. I do admit to leaving my bathroom a little messy...it's okay, it's mine. He doesn't have one unstained shirt, b/c no matter what we're eating, it wants to land on his new shirt. I would have to say that I'm more of a slob than he.

We both are in our own ways. I am super lucky that he has to straighten everything up before he can leave the house and picks up everything whereas I am more of a leave piles of clothes on the floor type slob. He, however, has a habit of never really wiping down counters or sinks. So if I go to use the mirror in the bathroom I can pretty much take a bath in his pools of water that he's left there (or they get on my shirt or pants when I lean in to do eye make up...) and there's always crumbs on the counter for me to wipe up. But if you asked him he's the super clean freak :)

We're both semi-slobby and we're packrats too! We are in the process of cleaning out his house and I was throwing out stuff that expired in 2002. Not to mention...he has every textbook and note from when he was in college...15 years ago! It may be time for a bonfire...

My boyfriend is WAY messier than I am. It's really annoying...I feel like Molly Maid, even after confronting him several times and even bribing him! btw...lmao @ "...and excess hair in your bush." Funniest mistake I've seen in a long time

He's definitlly neater than me when it comes to folding and putting away clothes, but when it comes to keeping the kitchen and bathroom clean I've got him beat. My apartment is always kept dusted, and scrubed, but I must admit that it takes me a while to fold my laundry. On the other hand his bathroom is always "yucky" and he doesn't dust. I guess we would balance each other out if we were to take a the plunge and live together.

in comparison he is a bigger slob than me but it isnt that bad..it irks me to no end when he leaves clothes on the floor but that is partially my fault since I cant find space for his stuff in my room lol..for the most part we are a good balance

Him. His room is inching towards bio-hazard area when I am around. When I'm not, well, I'd really rather not know about it out of fear of loosing my last meal.

Plus, his cloths are never where they should be. They are always piled in the corner of his bed or on the floor .... covered in dirt and dust.

He is by far. I might have the occasional dust bunny ... but he has full grown saber tooth dust rabbits that come out at night and roam his apt. His entire apt is covered in dust.

I'm a neat freak! He's ok tho...he has days when he is a TOTAL SLOB and then days when I come home from work and he did the laundry AND put it away AND did the dishes that were sitting in the sink. I don't expect him to be perfect EVERYDAY though... :)

He owns more stuff than me but I tend to make more mess... I'm also sometimes slow about cleaning it up. ;p It's not too bad though. Our house is clean and tidy and he even had dinner cooking for him when he got home last night! ;p

I think I am, only slightly more so. But he's really good at doing a once a week clean-up whereas it takes me a bit longer. When we get together and have one of our hedonistic-lie-in-bed-don't-do-anything weekends, the mess gets out of control.

My boyfriend is very neat. He keeps everything tidy and clean without anyone telling him to :) Even though I'm really clumsy and a HUGE slob at home, I suddenly turn into a neat freak when I'm at his place. Fold, scrub, dust... even though I don't REALLY enjoy cleaning, he thinks I do ;) I don't know. Maybe I'm unconsciously trying to look like a girly girl? :halo: well it must be workin, cuz he calls me Martha Stewart and wants to marry me for it. :ROTFL:

I'm definitely messier... My boyfriend's mom is the ultimate neatfreak so he ends up doing a lot of the chores, but I like to think that I do the dishes, laundry and cooking so making him do the cleaning isn't so bad, right?? =D

We bring out the sloppiness in one another but from time to time I have a clean freak moments from time to time
princess_eab princess_eab 7 years
Both slobs... and then would get mad at each other for doing different kinds of cleaning. Like because every three weeks, he would freak out and scrub the house inch by inch and then blame me for all the dirt, when every night I'd have picked up about ten million of his things off of the floor. Needless to say it didn't work out.

Haha, funny typo, or maybe I just have a dirty mind? - "...and excess hair in your bush." typos aside, I think I'm the messy one in the house. Hubby's always cleaning up after me:) I'm lucky though, he never complains!

Unfortunately, I've never been with a clean freak other than living as me. :( My dad's dad is the cleanest person I know next to me, and he was in WW2. I can't stand cleaning up after people, especially when they don't give a sh!t (like my fat boss at work). I clean the house at least once a week (minimum), 2xs a week if I'm lucky, and 3xs if I'm very lucky... or I'm constantly straightening things. I'm the kind of girl that's doing the dishes I make dirty while I'm cooking.. and if I can I wash the dishes I cooked with very fast before we eat. Maybe when I'm older I'll be fortunate enough to have a maid, but for now I'm teaching my daughter to help me. It makes her feel so useful and it helps us laugh and bond.

Muirnea, for me I think it's a combination of being able to spot the jackasses a mile away (and avoid them), and being fairly exacting in the relationships I do choose to start. In a nice way, but still exacting.

Muirnea...I don't know...I was on plentyoffish.com when I met my bf....and my previous ex and I met snowboarding and he was a decent guy too. Luck the draw for sure...I have met many many assholes in my time :P

I'm not in a relationship but past ones and I'm sure future ones, I will be neater, b/c I am a super neat organized person most of the time. A little off topic here...buuuut...Someone needs to tell me where to find these awesome guys I keep hearing about from you people! There neat and loving and caring and romantic, etc. etc. etc., the list seems to go on! LOL, I think I am out of the loop!!! I find all the stereotypical guys (traits I don't like) and I look all kinds of places too...grrr...LOL. :)
