I have been invited to a retirement party coming up this weekend. The retiree is my former boss - she's about 55-60 years old, and yes, I did like her. I have NO clue as to what is an appropriate gift. Could you make some suggestions? (Please take into consideration that I'm in Roswell, NM and our mall contains no more than 10 stores, hah). Bosses are always hard to shop for, but keep in mind that you did spend 8 hours a day with her for an extended period of time, so I bet you know her better than you think you do. Get creative - retirement gifts can be humorous and thoughtful. For example, you could fill a basket with anti-aging beauty products from Bliss . That would be funny for her to open, but it's also a nice present! What hobbies/activities is she into? How about a new golf or tennis outfit? A new bowling ball, a fine bottle of wine or a gardening tool set? These kinds of gifts are retirement apropos. If you really don't want to get that personal, then a mani/pedi or a massage is sweet, generous and always appreciated.
