Sarah Palin the Disney Movie Gets a Trailer!

Recently Matt Damon shared his views on VP nominee, Sarah Palin. He said: "It's like a really bad Disney movie. The Hockey Mom. Oh, I'm just a hockey mom from Alaska, and she's president. She's facing down Vladimir Putin and using the folksy stuff she learned at the hockey rink. It's absurd." Well, the trailer for Matt's movie finally hit the Internet, and the hockey mom is putting the "ice" in Vice President. (Body) check it out!

I agree with Mykie to a point...celebrities do have freedom of speech, just like anybody else, but there are people easily swayed by what they say. That said, obviously famous people have just as much right as anybody to say what they want. I just wish (and this is my personal preference) some would be more positive in their approach, talking up their candidate and encouraging folks to vote, rather than making comments like this, which get hyped and sensationalized and may take away from actual issue-based coverage. But that's just my celebrity (or poster here, for that matter) will be influencing my vote.

HF, no one was called a communist. The statement was: If we are all for communist like speech restrictions on all non-politicans at least that would cover Ann Coulter and Rush Limbaugh. I hope that clears the confusion. No one was called a was a red herring ;-)

I'm serious. I didn't see anyone call her a communist. I'm confused.

Oh, and disliking a celebrity because of their political view sure sounds less than educated to me. I will never understand a persons inability to separate WORK from PERSON. Please explain besides Matt Damon's politics being different from yours, what else has he done to stop people from being his fan...cut his hair!?! Hey, Kirk Cameron, for all intents and purposes, has become a Evangelical lunatic...does that mean I'm going to refuse to watch Growing Pains and not acknowledge my school girl crush...I DON'T THINK SO :OY:

Did somebody call mykie a communist? Who did it?! Fess up!

Listen, since you're all so concerned that my opinion will turn everyone into a communist and seem intent on telling me that my opinion is bad or wrong, I'm going to go back to the non-pop sites where people are a little more reasonable. You all can have your liberal soap box back.

That's quite a leap to go from not wanting to hear celebrities rant and rave to calling me a communist, but if that's how you see it, then that's your prerogative.

You think only POLITICIANS are qualified to talk about the candidates? Because to me, since the candidates are politicians there's real possibility of a conflict of interest there. Also, because politicians and candidates affect our lives in so many ways, I'd prefer a range of views. A waitress may know how a particular insurance plan works for struggling moms, while a business exec could point out ways a candidate is misrepresenting an issue in terms of their field. Actors who use their time to become involved in an issue and to really learn about it, can tell me things that a politician might not - I once listened to Audrey Hepburn discuss her work in Africa and offer details of life in refugee camps that I had never heard before. Matt Damon has worked hard to learn about similar issues and I would hate to think that his knowledge would be denigrated because people enjoy his work in films.

If we are all for communist like speech restrictions on all non-politicans at least that would cover Ann Coulter and Rush Limbaugh. Everyone has the right to express their opinion, that's America! And I'm sure people will see some celebrity say something stupid and decide NOT to vote for that candidate, so it goes both ways. I still don't think celebrities have any affect on the way Americans will vote.

What about news anchors??

Yes in fact Stephley, there are. They're called POLITICIANS. :)

Mykie is there any segment of the population that you believe should discuss their impressions of the candidates in public?

Aren't all Americans entitled to freedom of speech? Therefore, why is it that I am entitled to shout at the top of my lungs GO OBAMA but if a celebrity does the same thing it is not ok? I believe every US citizen has the right to voice who they support in this election, but I will agree it is up to every US citizen to become informed before they place their vote. Although if everyone did study up and become informed how could there be any McCain supporters left? LOL

Every time I see an argument like that, I want to sub in "waitress." She's a WAITRESS, and I want to be SERVED FOOD, not preached to.
