Scott McClellan On Countdown: Talks To Keith Olbermann About His New Book On Countdown with Keith Olbermann Thursday Scott McClellan sat down for a nearly hour-long interview with the MSNBC host to discuss his new book, What Happened. The wide-ranging interview covered everything from the CIA leak to Fox News to McClellan's critics to the possibility of military action in Iran. McClellan also struck back at the former colleagues who have emerged to speak out against his new book, pointing out that despite their criticism of his actions none of them have so far refuted anything specific about his account.

I would never say Karl Rove is a beacon of truth, just pointing out that the "no one has defended the actions of the president" line is not factual. Why shouldn't one believe Rove over McClellen? Both have an extreme amount to gain. I don't think we should dismiss the people who say why didn't he come out sooner, thats a VERY valid point. Then you have Ari Fleischer (sp?) saying that he spoke with Scott a few weeks ago and Scott said the editors were pressing him to be harder on the Pres. in the book... could be true, book companies want to sell books, no matter what the truth is. The bottom line is if you want to believe him, you will and if you don't, you won't.

But even I would feel better if someone could say no, it's not true. The closest I've heard is that guy, I think his name is Doug Fife, saying 'we really believed' what we were saying when planning and pitching the war. Not real compelling.

Seriously, does it really matter at this point? He had the chance to do something heroic and stand up for a noble cause but instead he lied for his boss. Now he's no better than the neocons he presumed to slither away from. Suck it up, Scotty, you're an obese weasel with pretensions of being a decent person.

We can buy it Monday - Olbermann obviously had an advance copy. I ordered it from the library, not sure I want to give him money for it.

"All I've heard is questions about McClellen personally, nothing factual." I agree. The only things I have heard have been nasty versions of "why didn't he speak up later?" The members of the WH press corps. got to know him fairly well, and they have been saying that this is surprising because of how loyal he always was to Bush. I think it will be interesting once people actually read the book. Doesn't it come out in print on Monday? But Olbermann had a copy with him last night during the interview. Confusion! :?

Yes and Carl Rove has proven to be a beacon of truth and integrity up to this point. He hasn't been on the conservative outlets because they don't want to hear the truth. America needs to take the wool off of their eyes!

All I've heard is questions about McClellen personally, nothing factual. Not saying it's absolute truth, but they're making it hard not to believe him.

And also Rove disputed many of Scott's accounts. So that part is wrong.

I guess I missed the part where Scott M's version is the absolute truth. I also find it interesting that he is only going on the leftie news outlets.... :ponder:

So far, no fact refutals - just Katie Couric saying yeah, he's right about the press. How come it doesn't feel better to be learning that Bush critics have been right for the past five years?
