Sherri Shepherd: I "Had More Abortions Than I Would Like to Count" Sherri Shepherd might have a hard time attracting men at the club these days, but before she converted to Christianity, she led a promiscuous lifestyle. She told the black Christian women's magazine Precious Times: "I was sleeping with a lot of guys and had more abortions than I would like to count. I had very low self-esteem and just wanted to die. I felt if someone killed me, it wouldn't even make a difference. But God showed me that it would make a difference."

I don't think her comments were so much about abortion as about despair. She lists a whole lot of other things going on in her life at the time. Promiscuity/unprotected sex was one of the ways she was dealing. She may be a bit dimwitted but I don't see why she is being vilified so much.

Pop - I agree wholeheartedly. It's frustrating to try to help people see the way when you have nutballs like this running amok.

My favorite quote from the article was something about how she doesn't understand the concept of B.C. because she thinks "Jesus came first." Eish. Why would I want to listen to the opinions of a self-proclaimed "saved" Christian who doesn't even understand that there was a whole other book before Jesus showed up.

Agreed, Bella and Wadewifey - she really needs to take a lesson in zipping it!

I'm not crazy about Sherri and I'm not crazy about her releasing such personal information about her and her family. Celebs need to know when to stop talking.

On the one hand, I'm grossed out, but on the other, I am blown away by her candor.

not that having an abortion makes you a wh-re. I was referring to her claimed promiscuousness.

so now she's an attention-wh-re instead of just a regular wh-re. awesome. why do people feel the need to blurt this stuff out?

Even if there are people out there (lots?) who abuse abortion...I'm still going with the good ol' 'legal, safe and rare' idea pertaining to the process. Also, I'm with stephley. I don't need to know anything else about anyone on this stupid, waste-of-time show.

And people still refuse to admit that there are girls out there (lots) who abuse abortion and use it as an out for their carelessness and irresponsibility.
