Last week I asked you what hugs you welcomed, and what hugs you shrug from. While the most agreed-upon hug was no surprise, I didn't see many of the results coming — like group hugs, with 48 percent of you voting yes to, coming in fourth place. Only three hugs placed above it, garnering at least a two-thirds majority to make them nearly universally welcomed hugs. See which ones they are below.
- Hello, It's Been Awhile: 96 percent
- Goodbye, See You Soon: 74 percent
- Welcome to My Home: 64 percent
The least popular hug? Just Met, but I Like You. Only 23 percent of you voted yes, yet 34 percent voted yes to hug strangers offering free hugs. As someone who's run across the street — in traffic — to avoid free huggers that's hard to compute. I'm guessing free hugs are, well, free: you have nothing invested in the person, so there's no risk to just accepting the hug and move on. Unless, like me, you're terrified of gratuitous affection.
