With Memorial Day coming up, I need a new summer weekend read. Do you have any fast, but smart books that you can recommend? Avid Reader Anna
Dear Avid Reader Anna
The most charming new book has been recently put out by Viking. It's called London Is The Best City In America by Laura Dave. The book focuses on a young woman who goes home to the suburbs of New York for the first time since calling off her engagement. She's home for her brother's wedding only to find out that he may be in love with another woman who is not his fiancee. The clearly commitment phobic brother sister duo go on a road trip to find the other woman and what ensues is the most heartwarming and witty story in recent memory.
It's so good that once you get going, I promise you won't be able to put it down. I was able to finish it in 4 days - it's just that good! Anyone who's anyone has been giving this book a thumbs up. It even caught the eyes of Universal execs' who bought the movie rights - and Reese Witherspoon has signed on to play Emmy, the main character. In Style just listed it as a summer must read on page 202 of June's issue. I've had the privilege of speaking with Laura and found her to be extremely charming, energetic and smart. Her first book reading in NYC couldn't even hold all of the fans who came to support her. I really think you'll enjoy this summer treat.
