Sunday Confessional: He's Obsessed With Getting Rich Quick!

Sunday Confessional: He's Obsessed With Getting Rich Quick!

We're scouring the juicy (but anonymous!) secrets posted on Truu Confessions and letting you weigh in. This week a confessor shares the money-problem getting between her and her man.

"This guy I'm seeing is obsessed with get-rich-quick books and tapes. He's always repeating affirmations to himself. When he asked me what I thought of his latest book, I told him I thought most people do OK financially when they just find a job they're good at, live within their means, and save — rather than go in for the latest self-help mantras. He responded that I had limited thinking and a fear of success. I'm starting to see a red flag here."

Do you think this is a big deal?

I *used* to be married to a guy like that as well....this sort of thing never ends well, believe me!

Money is nice to have but we all have been witness to countless millionaire/billionaires seeking out ways to fulfill the spirit because money no matter how much they had left a human void in their lives.

i'm sorry but I am really really starting to see exactly how hyper critical other women are, Maybe this guy was just trying to prove to her that he wants to be financially sound? even if he is into get rich quick ideas, or whatever it is that they are called, but maybe hes just not right for this particular person, and who is this woman to call anyone out on their flaws, im sure shes got some annoying habbits, or hobbies to,

Agreed with the previous posters. That aside, any man that would tell me that I had "limited thinking" would walk away with limited teeth.

Run, don't walk to the nearest exit. Don't become one of those women that stay and complain.

I agree -- it's time to make an exit. I must confess I'm familiar with this type of man, as I've come across them. The word "fool" and "gullible" comes to mind. Foolish, gullible men do NOT become successful. :)

He's just gonna take you down with him when he becomes broke from a get rich quick scheme.

Run. I find that people who get wrapped up in get rich quick schemes are usually lazy people who are trying to find any possible way out of having a real job. Not the type of person I'd want for a mate.

He sounds like a character from a movie. Its time to bounce.

Yeah.. poor girl. It doesn't matter what he's obsessed with, if he doesn't do anything about it and just reads books and doesn't think for himself, I don't see any success in the future.

Run. Seriously. I married (and divorced) one of those. You're always broke because of the latest scheme. Not to mention some of them may be legally questionable.

I agree with #1. There is no such thing as "getting rich quick". You're only setting yourself up for regret/disappointment. If you want a lot of money, get an education, work hard, and go into a career where you make a good amount of money. I actually find it ironic how this guy wants to "get rich quick", but he's spending all kinds of his money on these scams. He could be saving it.

people who go in for this are also prime targets for various scams, you'll wake up one day and find the bank account negative and your house gone.
