Sunday Confessional: I'm in Love With My Cousin's Ex

Sunday Confessional: I'm in Love With My Cousin's Ex

This week's confessional comes from our anonymous Confession Booth group in the TrèsSugar Community. Feel free to weigh in with your advice in the comments.

He was always there for me and they have been broken up for more than a year. I've liked him for a long time and slowly it turned into love. I really want to be with him but he's not doing the whole dating thing. I feel like if I move on then I'll miss my chance with him. He's a great guy because he and I actually get along and actually have alot in common.

I don't know what to do...

There's lots of great stuff going on in our community — join it, check it out, share your posts or advice in the great groups, and maybe we'll feature it here on TrèsSugar!

I agree with a lot of the above --- If it was a one date relationship then maybe, and that's a big maybe, your cousin will be okay, but family is forever, and should come first, so if its going to cause a rift with your cousin, then I would back off and find someone else...

I'd talk to your cousin if you feel so strongly about this guy that you want to pursue something, but before you even do that, I think it would be wise to find out how the guy feels. If he's not dating at all post-breakup, are you sure he feels the same way? Are you just hardcore crushing on him and it'll never be anything more than that?

I agree with Chelsea. If he's not looking to date anyone what does it matter? If he's not dating it's not going to make a difference if you have your cousin's blessing to persue this guy.

You just said hes not doing the whole dating thing. Doesn't that make the whole question moot? If he isnt dating what does he do?

If you think your cousin might be okay with it, I'd talk to her about it and then go for it. It seems like enough time has passed that if they weren't too serious she'll have gotten over it.

How long did they date? If it was a casual thing, my guess is that your cousin would be cool with it... if they were in a serious relationship, it's possible that no amount of time passing would make it okay with your cousin.

Do you know how your cousin would feel. Time has moved on and it would be much easier if you cousin was OK about it.
