Baltimore has a lot of violent crime. There are some nice parts, like Federal Hill, but if you go past MLK, towards the stadium, away from the inner harbor, well...it's hardly beautiful. The gun shots at night and all the pimps you see walking around can definitely deter a person from wanting to be there. The inner harbor is nice, Federal Hill is nice, there are a select few nice places...but most of Baltimore is definitely not nice. Usually it makes top 3 of the worst cities list. Some of those cities are nice, just crime is ridiculous.

I was surprised to see Chicago at first... it is a beautiful city with so many great things about it, treasures (Navy pier, Wrigley, the museums, the aquarium, Michigan Avenue, fabulous restaurants), and things to do! However, the crime rate and murder rate is awful, taxes are high, politicians are super sleazy... yea I can see why it is there ><

I am AMAZED Detroit is not the most miserable, just yesterday this came out: (from Det Free Press) Detroit City Council President Monica Conyers had to be restrained during a confrontation last week with Councilman Kwame Kenyatta in which she hurled insults at Kenyatta about his hearing aid, health and education. Eliminate Credit Card Debt Gals, Want to Slash $500 off Your Auto Insurance? Sex Pheromones are Bending the Laws of Attraction Advertising provided by: ARALifestyle.com Kenyatta would not discuss who said what except to deny Conyers' assertion in the argument that he has cancer and to say he never raised his voice. He called Conyers' behavior petty. "It's classical Monica Conyers," he said. "She's unprofessional. She's disrespectful. She's insensitive." Sources who described the incident on the condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the matter said the Feb. 4 argument escalated after Conyers called Kenyatta stupid, following his insistence that she submit in writing her request to cut his budget. When Kenyatta asked her what she said, Conyers responded he needed to learn how to talk to a woman. Kenyatta shot back that when he was with a woman, he would do so. That prompted Conyers to yell at Kenyatta that he was stupid, citing his lack of a college degree, tell him he "can't hear" -- a dig at his hearing aid -- and try to rub in his face rumors that Kenyatta has cancer. As at least one council staffer and a council security officer restrained Conyers while she tried to walk toward Kenyatta, he retorted that he hears just fine, doesn't have cancer and told her she needs help.

If commute times were really factored in, I don't know how Austin didn't make the list.

Yeah, I was pretty miserable when I lived in Miami. My car insurance dropped 80% when I left there and moved to a city where people aren't trying to take you out with their cars. Sadly though I know a number of people still there who are not happy with property purchases they made in the last few years. They are pretty screwed.
