True Confession — I Can't Stop Checking Our Registry!

True Confession — I Can't Stop Checking Our Registry!

I know how much you all love our Sunday Confessional, so my friend at True Confessions is joining forces with me to bring you a midweek confessional! Weigh in and tell us if you forgive or don't forgive the confessional below.

"I check our wedding registry almost every day to see what gifts people have bought us so far! I know this is incredibly greedy of me, but I can't help it! Can I be forgiven for being so self-indulgent?! "

In most situations, part of the fun for the giver of the gift is the look of surprise on your face when you see what they've gotten you. Knowing what you're getting ahead of time can diminish that reaction, and so sometimes leaves the giver feeling like their gift maybe wasn't appreciated as much as if it had been a total surprise. With weddings, however, gifts are almost always opened after the wedding is done and all the guests are gone, or even after the honeymoon, so the giver isn't there to see your reaction. So if there's EVER a time it's ok to spoil the surprise, a wedding is it :D

Nothing wrong with that at all. You just want to know and then you know what you'll have to buy later.

Haha, I did this obsessively too! Who care?!

I think we've ALL done it. The saving point is that we realize we are being greedy -- but it's too much fun not to look and imagine how amazing our future home will be!

Of course, forgive! (As long as you're grateful for everything you receive and don't allow yourself to feel disappointed about any items that still remain on the registry.)It's good to know what you won't have to purchase for yourself. It helps you plan.

That's the only reason you're having a wedding anyway!! Why not check it!?

i am doing the same thing for my baby registry right now, but I did it when I got married also. I feel kind of guilty. The reason is more to figure out when the showers are, if they are coming up you will see a surge in purchases...but at the same time I tell myself I want to be surprised about when the showers are.

Forgive, you're just excited/curious to see what people have chosen. But you won't be surprised on your wedding day

Forgive. You're only ruining the surprise for yourself!

LOL you sound like kid trying to score the CMAS gifts early or running amok in a candy store...very few things are just 'unforgivable' and especially this is hurting no one, well just your surprise! But you're just excited, and if it makes you happy then go for it...it's a guilty pleasure is all:) Just don't be bitter if you get something you didn't want or don't get something you did want on your registry!

I was really good and didn't check before my bridal shower. I wanted to be genuinely (sp?) happy/excited about the gifts people were going to watch me open. After the shower I said "eff it" and checked it almost daily. I figured nobody was going to watch the hubby and I open gifts after the wedding so no need to be surprised.

Every bride that I have know has done the same thing! It's just natural to be curious...don't you remember sneaking under grandma's bed or into the closet to snoop around the Christmas presents?!?! It's just human nature!! :-) Forgive! Plus, it's still a surprise WHO got you the gifts. Also you are going to get plenty of gifts that weren't on your registry.

I'm trying not to check ours, since I want to be surprised. But it's hard because they say you're supposed to keep adding things.
