Turn On or Turn Off? Arrogance

No one likes insecurity. It can be a real downer in a relationship and oftentimes the smallest little things end up becoming blow-out fights when one person is more insecure than the other. While insecurity can be a total turn off, is the flip side any better? I happen to like confident men but others find cockiness to be a less than attractive quality. So ladies, what I want to know is: Do you think arrogance is a turn on or a turn off?

the moment cockiness blips on my radar, all attractiveness goes out the window

I can't stand cocky guys! Basically, I won't be friends with someone who thinks their shit don't stink!

I hate cocky PEOPLE. Cocky people just annoy me. They just seem like mean people to me, like they'd throw their Mom under the bus if they had to. I know a few cocky people who are really just very insecure and jealous and it's very obvious.

I could never be attracted to cocky men for long-term serious relationships. cocky to me means that they are so confident about themselves that they don't think they can do any wrong and more importantly, are so resistant to compromising with you (and no matter how much chemistry a couple may have, compromise is soooo necessary) i agree with a lot of people, however, that cockiness may just be a cover for insecurity, and they could be really great people underneath. i have very little patience for it though.

Funny thing is, before we started dating, I used to think my bf was really cocky..and it was a total turn-off. After over a year with him I've realized that he's just as insecure as I am. I'm glad I was able to look past his initial "cockiness" and get to really know him. PS. I agree with ninjastarlett: cocky guys are fun to string along ;)

My guy is confident to the point of occasional cockiness, but it's never arrogance that comes from low self esteem.... it's the opposite. He really believes in himself and that is one thing I found very attractive and inspirational in him. My previous boyfriends were pretty cocky/ arrogant, though, so I guess I'm into that.

I kind of like cocky guys. They make me laugh...at them, but hey. You gotta start somewhere. :P

I dated an arrogant guy, and it was not pleasant at all. Sure, at first I mistook arrogance with confidence, then I realized that he was arrogant because he was the most not-confident of them all, to the point that he had to be that way (flaunting himself, indirectly/subtly belittling others). The real confidence for me is a guy who doesn't have to flaunt themselves and treats other really well regardless their 'status.'

I don't think confidence is at all equal to arrogance or cockiness. In fact that I think arrogance and cockiness are probably masking insecurity on some level. I could not last one minute with an arrogant guy.

I'm really attracted to cocky guys. However, it doesn't last, and I'm happy with my boyfriend who is confident but no arrogant.

There is a difference between confidence and arrogance. The former trait is a huge turn-on, and the latter is a huge turn-off for me. I like something in the middle. A good dose of confidence, but mixed in with humility and respect for others.

Cocky is a major turn off. I like confidence, and a little bragging sometimes is ok. Although, it is funny how many people make fun of cocky people behind their backs.

I love that my guy is blatantly cocky about how well he does in his business... his drive and determination turns me on so much.....He knows he's the best and will make you know it too....
