Dating Advice According to Blair Waldorf

The romance story lines on Gossip Girl have gotten out of control. On last night's episode, Blair Waldorf (the one redeeming character) offers some dating advice to Serena, who is trying to get something started with Blair's ex-boyfriend Nate (told you it was out of control). The advice? Everyone must play games. I'm not sure I agree, but Serena does have a tendency to move fast and furious with a new lover. So maybe Blair knows what she's talking about when she tells Serena to take things slow.

Here's a break down of the dating advice courtesy of everyone's favorite Queen B.

  1. Restraint and control are key. You're like ice cream and if you let a guy gorge right away, he's going to end up passing on dessert very soon.
  2. Introduce some competition, preferably a hot Belgian drug dealer. Taking Blair's advice, Serena asks the son of the Belgium ambassador to be her date to a fancy dinner Nate is also attending.
  3. The games doesn't have to last long. It takes about 30 seconds to make Nate jealous, and once he is Serena has no more use for her Belgian date.
  4. If the other person really likes you, the game doesn't matter. This isn't something Blair admits, but Serena learns it at the end of the episode when she and Nate end up getting cuddly (and busy) in the closet. The verdict is still out though, since we don't know how long they'll last.

Do you think there's something to Blair's advice that everyone has to play some sort of game?
