What Was Your Worst Valentine's Day?

What Was Your Worst Valentine's Day?

Valentine's Day is loaded with potential — we hope it's the potential to knock your socks off, but there's also the chance that it fails to wow completely.

Hopefuls dream of flowers, chocolates, and romantic dinners, but unfortunately they aren't always in the cards. And even if they are part of the plan, sometimes the best-laid plans fail to deliver — especially when you factor in holiday hype and over-the-top expectations. Not that I want to rain on anyone's Valentine's Day parade, but sometimes things just don't pan out. So, while I'm hoping Cupid's got your back this year, tell me, what's your worst Valentine's Day on record?

Never had a bad valentines. This year was pretty good. Romantic (if romantic is the bf asking you to play a war game online with him). Well, never had a bad valentines... yet.

Yesterday. I told him he needed to show me more affection because we hadn't had sex in weeks. He broke up with me. I'm pretty sure that's rock bottom.

5th Grade. I gave a boy I had a crush on a handmade Valentine. He said he liked it, then later on the bus ride home, he held it up and started reading it in front of everyone. The entire bus laughed at me. It was awful! It's oh, 20 something years later and I still haven't forgotten! HA!

Valentine's Day is my birthday! So while the rest of the world is whining about their love lives, I'm always celebrating how awesome and sexy I am with my single friends. Which always leads to the 3 am drunk prank calls to the friends who skipped the party to be with their significant others: "You missed my birthday! What the fuck! Are you having sex right now? Say my name, bitch!" Half screamed, half slurred, of course. Good times, right there. Even if I'm not single, I tell my guy, "You can party with us, but tonight is for friends." I get romantic on the 13th or 15th. My worsts: 2nd place: my high school boyfriend was trying to get back into my pants after breaking up. First, he tried taking me to Bennigan's. It's noisy and looks like the inside of an Irish Garage. So we did leave, went downtown to Fat Fish Blue, upscale cajun food and live blues, very hip but intimate. Everything was great until he started complaining about how much money he spent on me, sixty whole dollars including presents. I took $60 out of my purse, gave it to him, and told him to take me the fuck home. !st place: my guy I was living with swiped $20 out of my purse and bought me some cheesy gift basket from a street corner vendor. I could care less about the money, but he put absolutely no thought whatsoever into my birthday AND valentine's day gift. What an ass.

Last year it started off okay--a friend of mine had a singles-only V-day party--but it went completely haywire when one of my guy friends had a few drinks too many and started screaming at me all the reasons I was single (I was ugly, I was too heavy, I was too independent...yada yada) and I wound up sobbing on the doorstep in 20-degree weather.

In highscool, every v day sucked. Either because I was single or my partner only sent me a flower "because everyone else does it." Yah, thanks.

probably the one when my boyfriend came to my dorm, not to wish me happy vday or hug me or anything, but to watch the allstar basketball slam dunk contest, or whatever it was. i mean, i don't care all that much about vday, but to pick that day to come over and watch sports, something he knew i hated? lame.

I think I mentioned this the last time this question was asked. Back in the 90's I was dating this dude for a couple of months and we had made plans to hang out Valentines Day. This fool let me take him out on a date on Valentines wine him and dine him have pleasant conversation and then at the end of the night finally told me that he didn't want to see me any more. Unfortunately I'm sorry to say that men at large gay or straight still have a chronic problem with communicating their feelings.

I don't care for valentine's day at all. Tons of couples at expensive restaurants, exchange of all things red, etc. And our anniversary is like 2 weeks after valentine's day followed by my birthday, so it's just a bit too much. But for those who care, I've seen a lot of disappointment.

I really hate this holiday. While in high school it always reminded me that I was single and a lone. Now it is easier to avoid, but I hated it for four years.

The one that the ex and I had a big fight, and then he stormed out and went to target and bought a coffee table and a fake plant to go on it. I am not a v-day kind of girl, but this was the day that I realized that he "just wasn't that into me", even after 4 years. : h e a d s m a c k :

I think my worst was probably freshmen year of high school when people started buying roses from the school for other students and I didn't get one. Boo hoo... Other than that I never really cared too much about Valentine's Day and my boyfriend and I probably aren't celebrating this year since we didn't last year.

I don't really care about Valentine's Day. Can't remember a bad one, but I do remember the few I have celebrated with boyfriends of the past that were romantic in silly ways. I try not to put too much pressure on holidays. It's a recipe for letdown.

I guess if you're going to pick a day to express how much you care about someone, V Day is as good as any (and it's impossible for men to forget!). A few years ago, my boyfriend didn't even call me on Valentine's Day. I'd probably rank that one as up there. Though I'm not really holding out any hope for this year as my boyfriend just dumped me. Ha!

Probably the Valentine's Day after my dad's funeral. We did get a lot of flowers though.
