Who's Watching the California Republican Debate With Me?

Who's Watching the California Republican Debate With Me?

Okay, I know the last debate was like a happy pony ride, but this one stands to be a whole different animal. I think Mitt Romney is looking to land some pretty hard punches tonight after losing to McCain in Florida yesterday. I'm afraid. I don't like it when my daddies fight. It starts at 8 p.m. EST. Woo hoo! Who's watching it with me?

Precious, Ron Paul doesn't support a ban on gay marriage. He wants it left to the states, like the constitution says nearly everything should be that wasn't specifically mentioned.

I would give this one to Romney. Of the remaining candidates i find him the most articulate and presidential.

i tried watching the republican debate, but as a democrat i was not interested in anything they had to say. i was SHOCKED they were up there dissing o'connor for roe v. wade. i changed the channel when i heard "i would not have appointed her." i think that is so disrespectful. and as for wanting judges that are federalists who believe in interpreting the constitution like the founding fathers would have--why the need for a constitutional BAN against gay marriage? i would think that a "strict constitutionalist" would say "the founding fathers didn't put it in, so we shouldn't either." if another republican is voted into the white house in november--especially if it is close-minded grandpa mccain--there is something seriously wrong with this country.

I've always considered Ron Paul to be a nut, but I've finally come to the conclusion that I would vote for Ron Paul before I'd vote for McCain. At least we know that Ron Paul won't fly off the handle and set off a nuke. Seriously, McCain is losing it - when he kept insisting over and over, even interrupting and pointing to try to get attention, that Romney said he supported a timetable, when even Cooper was trying to get McCain to listen to the full quote, it really brings to mind someone in the early stages of dementia (along with the behavior like calling the Vietnamese "gooks" after all this time). He's become a caricature of himself.

i was seriously yelling at the tv while watching this debate. i mean...god just let ron paul or huckabee get a word out! anderson cooper should NEVER be a moderator again..he told ron paul twice that he would "get back to him in a couple questions" and never did. i know that they are trying to keep it entertaining what with the drama between romney and mccain, but its not fair for them to assume that huckabee and paul are out of the race, especially in a DEBATE. and i also agree with LibertySugar, "It sort of bothers me that the others smirk when Ron Paul is talking." i wish they wouldnt have tried to play up the drama between romney and mccain at the expense of the other candidates. its unfair--people watching (like myself) want to learn about ALL the candidates, not just two that a network predetermines will win or get the most viewers. ugh.

That debate was beyond disappointing.

I was hoping that the smaller number of remaining candidates would allow Ron Paul a better chance at voicing his stance on the issues and engaging in a real debate with another candidate. Unfortunately, CNN, Politico, and the LA Times have greatly disappointed me. I applaud Huckabee for voicing his feelings toward the negligence at "the other end of the table". It happens too often to Paul and he has time and time again gotten the short end of the stick. Mainstream media is overly controlling who they think the American people should be hearing. The point of these debates is to give every candidate time to voice their opinions and policies. I was so appalled at the obvious disrespect Dr. Paul was given by Cooper. He cut him off mid sentence and failed to fulfill the promise of coming back to him to talk.

Thanks, LiLRuck! I think Romney won. He kept his demeanor, gave great answers, and did the best job.

Redegg your picture is hilarious. If they were giving out time based on poll numbers, Ron should've gotten more time than Giuliani in the previous debates. They have no interest in his views. Big government = lots of money going around.

Oh, no prob! I think it was the Iraq question when the "timetable" stuff came up. That's all. I wish that it would have been more formal so we could have heard everyone.

Paul, of course. What little time he did have he did extremely well. Citizen I wasn't trying to be rude I just had zoned out momentarily and I didn't get which question you were talking about.

I was not impressed with McCain's demeanor. He seemed to flipflop on his answers during the debate to make them more likeable. Did anyone notice this? He was also so smirky. I had a hard time concentrating. I've never watched them debate before and was surprised by this. Ron Paul reminds me of an English gentleman. I could totally picture him sitting there with a teacup of English Breakfast. I think they seemed to have been told to give him less time since he has a much smaller percentage of the vote thus far??

From the little bit I saw I'd say Ron Paul. Not a shot in hello, but the guy knows his stuff. Or maybe I just liked seeing the other candidates squirm as they knew he was calling out pretty much every petty politician. But if we're talking about candidates who may actually have a shot, I think Romney won the last 30 minutes at least.
