Who's Watching the Inauguration of Barack Obama?

Who's Watching the Inauguration of Barack Obama?

Today America will introduce its 44th President! At noon, Chief Justice John Roberts will administer the oath of office to Barack Obama who will swear to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution. While 240,000 people have tickets, as many as 4 million will watch Obama become president via jumbotron, along with many more around the US.

And of course — there will be a speech! Considering the opportunity to set the tone of his administration, and the fact that so many people have come to the capitol to witness his inauguration, Obama must be feeling pressure to deliver a moving address. Regardless of the words, the marking of democracy in action and new energy in leadership will likely give Americans inspiration in these tough times.

Will you be watching? You can tune in for live video from Ustream TV and CNN. Tell me if you think Obama lives up to the high expectations!

"Unfortunately, I'm sure for many, they will remember this day as a day when they were filled with renewed hope after losing their job, their business, their retirement, or a dearly loved one in the Iraq war. I wish us all new hope for the future!" Jazz, you are so right :(.

"...instead of sitting and waiting for him to show you something concrete, go out and do something while you're at. Your government is only what you make it." "...and by that same token, I'm saving my cynicism and criticism about him and his administration until something proves to me that he isn't the leader we think he's going to be." I completely agree. :)

When one has that much positive energy and faith coming from around the world, not to mention your own focused determination to prove you can make a difference, it would be very surprising if positive big changes doesn't come to fruition, and fairly quickly. I believe when one has that much determination and faith in one's self he can move mountains.

I have a question. Is he "officially" the President if he didn't use the correct oath of office? This isn't a knock on the President, but the Chief justice, who didn't do it correctly.
