Who Is Your Favorite First Lady in 2009?

Who Is Your Favorite First Lady of 2009?

First ladies may marry into their jobs, but that doesn't make life easy. France's Carla Bruni-Sarkozy had a headline-filled year, though it was not all good news. Nude pictures emerged from her past, but her style and smarts continue to win over the world. Britain's Sarah Brown used her English manners to welcome Michelle Obama on her first trip abroad as first lady, which jump-started a whirlwind tour for Michelle that won't end anytime soon. Meanwhile Japan, too, got a new first lady, Miyuki Hatoyama, who seems a little crazy and a lot of awesome.

All these first ladies may not make headlines, but they certainly do serve their countries in style — who does it best?

I really admire Queen Rania but didn't see her as a button to vote for!

This is the third time Tres has featured Chantal Biya- I lived and worked in Cameroon and find it offensive that anyone should celebrate this woman and her oppressive husband. He is responsible for supporting genocide and the fleecing of his people and the destruction of his country's natural resources for his own gain. Please have a care and begin to have a little more responsibility- her people dislike her careless spending and wanton abuse of power while they live in squalor.

I long for the "Lady" who has a first man! Or for that matter a "Lady" who has a first lady. It's time for change.

I love Carla Bruny, but Queen Rania has to be my favorite. She has done so much for Arab-women, and her personal story is admirable. She is beautiful inside out. I also love Michell, she is an incredible woman who is a great role model to women all around the world.
