Women Giving More Money to Campaigns — Did You Donate?

Women are putting their money where their vote is at an increased rate this election. While female Americans still lag behind their male counterparts, giving only 36 percent of total campaign donations, so far this year they have tripled the total amount given by ladies in 2000. Women have donated $109 million to Barack Obama or John McCain.

Obama has received more money from women than John McCain. Seventy-five million dollars and 47 percent of donations over $200 have come from women to Barack Obama. As for John McCain, $34 million and 29 percent of his donations over $200 are from women.

So what about you ladies — have you opened your wallet for the man you want to become the next president?

I really want to donate, but I just can't afford it. I really want a sign for the yard, a button or a cute shirt too...oh well. Dang that kid for needing to eat. lol

I'm a college student, I don't have the money to donate

And haus, I don't think your example about McCain's stance on abortion works, because he is anti-abortion, and I don't see the point of your Obama is a Muslim example because it's not something Move On did.

Hey! I got my Obama t-shirt! It was the wrong size though. :( DAAAAAAMN YOU MOVEON!!!!

Dave, I can see how you'd be upset that Obama chose to have his campaign funded by voluntary donors instead of by your taxes.... Oh, wait....

So I read more comments, and I see that you were trying to make a point about taking things out of context. I think it is equally bad when both sides do it.

Haus, that was SO DISAPPOINTING for me to read your comment about the Youtube video! I thought you were above misrepresentations like that! If you watch the video for more than 9 seconds, you will see he goes on to say, "what I am saying is that he hasn't suggested that I am a Muslim".

I don't like either of them enough to donate, sorry.

"I'll try to find you some and I'll bring them to you." :oy: I'm sorry. I don't get her allure. If they are going to make these her talking points, they should really give her the evidence to back it up so she doesn't look like a fool.

I can proudly say that we did not give to either campaign, except for through our taxes. So I guess that means that we only gave to McCain, since Obama flip-flopped on his whole using public money, and abiding by the limitations set by that agreement.

Wow, for those who gave, kudos!! In these economic times, we couldn't even think about giving to charity, let alone a campaign. You are true Americans. We would give if we could!

It better be Haus, you can't get much worse than that one... ;)

The McCain quote on abortion wasn't the best example, I'll give you that. The next example I gave is a far better one.

Before I go haus I understood what you were getting at. But I don't believe MoveOn did that with the Mccain quote about abortion. We just disagree on that one.

Thanks True Song. I really have to get used to your new name. It's time to grab some hot chocolate and get ready to face a new day. Goodnight.

Yes Mich thats my exact point. That is what moveon does all the time and thats why its wrong.

TS, I'm pretty sure she knows how he meant it, the point is that you can make it sound like people said anything if you take it out of context.

"The comment about "my muslim faith" is about his alleged muslim faith." That's what's so awful about taking quotes out of context...and so many people will just run around believing them at face value.

"Who wouldn't be embarassed by them?!" :cheer:
True-Song True-Song 7 years
Oh, for fuck's sake. If you see that entire interview, the interviewer asks him how he feels about people asking if he is Muslim. The comment about "my muslim faith" is about his alleged muslim faith.

Hannity can go on that list for me too, I know some conservatives like him, but I don't! :)
