Would You Ever Use Your Power To Coerce A Subordinate?

Would you ever use your power to get a subordinate to do something for you? You are fully aware that this is cruel and manipulative, but if there was no chance of getting caught, would you pull rank and take advantage on an inferior?

The movie Office Space is a classic example of how Peter's boss, Bill Lumbergh is constantly asking unreasonable requests from him so that he doesn't have to do the work himself. For example on Friday afternoons he often tells him that he has to work on Saturday followed by, "Ahh, I'm going to have to go ahead and ask you to come in on Sunday, too."

Office stuff is terrible, Ive seen how bad it is and how good it can be. Ive seen both sides, luckily I've never experienced anything negative personally. The best way to work with people is by having fun and giving your subordinates the power to make decisions on their own and trusting them. At my old job in NYC I had 4 people on my team that worked under me and we all got along fab.

No way.

I wouldn't have people do something just because I was too lazy to do it, or if I had been slacking and therefore was behind. But, if I am slammed to the wall busy, I would have no problem asking someone to help me. After all, people under you or above you should all be a team, and should work together. My boss comes to me and asks me to help with stuff all the time, and it doesn't bother me because she is working her as$ off too...... besides, the quicker it gets done, the quicker I get to go home!!!!

Why on EARTH would someone who has been a victim of a manipulative lazy ass of a Boss want to perpetuate the same behavior on to other people? Sorry--but the this whole poll is stupid. If you voted for the first option...sorry but that makes you stupid too.

I make my son pick up dead bugs for me. Does that count? LOL No, of course I wouldn't do that! Whether or not you get "caught" doesn't matter. Obviously your subordinate would know.

I would never do anything that manipulative, but I'm not above asking for help if I need it.
