This is a bit off topic, but kikis comment reminded me of it. I work for a major cell phone company and there was an email sent out today that all our retail stores were closing 2 hours early due to the possibility of "civil unrest" unfortunatly I dont work in a retail store, I actually work in the department that assists law enforcement, so if there is any "civil unrest" we will be manning the calls. :)

The president of my university sent an email to all the faculty to be lenient on late or absent students today b/c of voting. My first class actually canceled so that we could all go vote :)Also there was a news report yesterday talking about how small businesses may have it hard today. The state law is that they have to let people off for up to 2 hours to vote. With lines being so long they may need those complete 2 hours. The news interviewed a small business owner who only has 10 employees. He said that he couldn't deal with 3 or 4 of them gone at once.

I voted before work and came in a little late. Totally forgivable today!

I voted before work - but if I so chose, I could have had two hours off for voting. Felt good to get it done bright and early, though.

My job is totally understanding about it. They told us last week in our staff meeting "If you think you are going to need to be late or leave early just let us know and we will work with you" I think this is the one day they are lenient about being late!

I agree, either vote absentee or go before/after work or at lunch. Being late is forgivable but not showing up is not a good choice!

There is no reason to miss work because you had to vote. Go before or after! :)

Ummmm.....if I didn't show up to work and used voting as an excuse I would probably get in a lot of trouble.
