If the item is really cute and nice looking, well fitting to my taste, I won't hesitate on getting it. I would get it and show it to my friend but I won't buy the same color or the style. It would just be a different item in the same product line. :)

Sometimes its not a really good idea because my friends have got into fights because of it. Girls can get catty :S

And L7amiguita, I had a friend who did this ALL the time to me too, and it madee me crazy.

I think this is kind of annoying, and I definitely wouldn't do it if it was a piece of clothing or shoes or jewelry.

Ugh...actually this annoys the HECK out of me. I have a friend that literally buys the EXACT same things I buy all the time (clothes, shoes, bags, etc.). Seriously, she'll go out the next day and buy it. Once in a while its okay, but ALL the time?! The thing that bothers most, though, is that she's beginning to morph into a second me instead of embracing her own style! Ok...enough venting. :)

Only if I was absolutely in love with it, otherwise I'd pass.

Eh, I think it depends what it is and the frequency at which it occurs. I had a "copy cat" for a while and it was rather irritating. "Permission" is not needed, but common sense and courtesy is.

I would say that you do need permission. Not literally asking permission, but just the knowledge that they're not going to freak out about it, like if it were a really unique piece that you never would have liked if you saw it hanging in the store. Jeans and pants I think are okay, but I wouldn't want my friends to buy the same tops or shoes/accessories that I have..

I love my friends, but I buy what I want all the time.

i usually don't do this, but today angelica actually gave me permission to, and i did. i bought a great BR sweater for 30 bucks. (down from 130, i couldn't resist!) now we can be twinsies!

ha ha ha - the ONLY time I did this was with a semi-close friend who let me try her V&F Flowerbomb perfume. I *loved* it so I bought some, but I never wear it when I know I'll see her!

Why buy what they have when you can borrow it occassionally? I don't like it when people have the same things as me...after I have them. Imitation isn't the best form of flattery - borrowing is.

sure, if your friend has great taste and you don't wear it on the same days. :) no accidental twinsies!

I actually really don't like it when my friends buy the same things I have, so I avoid buying things I know my friends have (this mainly pertains to clothes and accessories.)
