Your Friend Tells You That She's Been Propositioned By Her Boss...

Your friend is working her butt off morning noon and night to get ahead at work. The other day she mentioned to you that her boss has repeatedly hit on her. She's a smart gal and she knows that a promotion would definitely be in the cards if she slept with him. What do you say to her when she asks for your advice?

Remember the movie Disclosure with Demi Moore and Michael Douglas? Whether you go through with it or not, any sexual connotations at work are risky business.

Omg, I'm laughing at choice number 3. Can you imagine? Blowing your boss and handing him a paper to sign saying he'll promote you. LOL!!

I had a similar experience years ago and this is what happened. I went to the the head of the HR department (just like the employment manual said to do). I told her that my manager was sexually harassing me and asked her if it would be possible for me to be assigned to a different manager. A couple of hours after we spoke she ended up sending me home, so I would not have to deal with my manager's sexual advances. Two weeks later a meeting was set up to talk about things and the company attorney was to be there also(supposedly for my benefit too). Fortunately for me, I knew this was a load of crap, so I brought my own attorney to the meeting and I'm so grateful I did. Long story short I never returned back to work after speaking to the head of the HR dept., ended up with a year long lawsuit, won that and then they fired my manager who was sexually harassing me and other women I worked with. Sometimes you have to take a stand for what is right, even if you do not like the results. I never wanted to be involved in a lawsuit (they are horrible), but hopefully I made the working conditions for other women at the company better. :) Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

:barf: WTF??? Why should SHE have to leave? Turn that prick in and get him fired for sexual harrassment!!!! By the way, there is NOTHING wrong with being a whistleblower.

i dont think that she should report him i forgot the word for it but it's used when you tell on someone that you work usually will backfire on u and u'll be out of there in no time..if i were u i'd tell her to definitely refuse the offer but if he keeps on harassing her she should get the hell out of there, and find another job.

I was offered a job on the same grounds and I turned it down. It is much better to know that you achieved something on your own, without a man's help-or anyone's at that. She should continue working her ass off-someone is bound to notice her dedication.

Thank you, CortneyLynn, that was going to be my point

I'd tell her that's really freakin' illegal. Sexual comments or advances from a superior to his subordinate constitue sexual harassment, and she needs to go directly to her office manager or HR department and report it.

I'd tell her to wake the hell up. Someone sleazy enough to promise a promotion in exchange for sex isn't going to keep their word.
