3,000 Children Contract Mysterious Disease

If there's anything more heart-wrenching than watching your child get sick, it's watching the illness progress, with no cure in sight.

Sadly, thousands of moms are currently struggling with this heartbreak in Northern Uganda, where an outbreak of a mysterious "nodding disease" has struck their children in large numbers. The extremely debilitating disease includes epilepsy-like symptoms and leaves victims virtually unable to function.

As CNN reports, families are being devastated by the ways the disease is stunting their children. Agnes Apio, a mother of oner victim, shared: "I feel dark in my heart. This boy has become nothing."
