What would you tell your child to do if she found $4,000 just lying on the street? An eight-year-old from Maine, Abbie Jacobson, not only didn't need to be told that the windfall wasn't her's to keep, she was rewarded for her good samaritan instincts with something far more valuable (to her!) than cash.
Abbie discovered more than $4,000 in cash, some Cambodian currency, gold rings, and a debit card in a cloth purse on the sidewalk outside a Sam's Club. She was eager to return the purse and its contents to whoever lost it. "It never crossed her mind to keep it," reports her mom, Jennifer.
The next day the purse was returned to its relieved owner, an elderly Cambodian immigrant named Ra Rim. Rim had been saving the money to travel back to Cambodia, and its reappearance made her weep.
But here's where the story gets really good: When Abbie was asked by a reporter what she might have done with the $4,000, she said she would have loved to see Justin Beiber in concert. This caught the attention of the CEO of the Bank of Maine — who gave an ecstatic Abbie and her family tickets to Justin Beiber's sold out concert in November!
