9-Year-Old Boy Finds Message in a Bottle

9-Year-Old Boy Finds Message in a Bottle

Every now and then real life is every bit as magical as the stories we read to our kids! Case in point: A 9 year-old boy named Oisin Millea has found a message in a bottle washed up on the shore in his hometown of Passage East, in Ireland. It was cast into the sea eight years ago by two 12-year-old girls living across the Atlantic in Quebec, Canada!

Charlaine Dalpe and Claudia Garneau's crushed, green plastic bottle withstood a 2,500 mile journey to deliver a simple request, written in their native French, that the bottle's finder let its senders know where it wound up.

The girls, now 20 and in college, were as delighted as Millea was with the amazing discovery. Dalpé told the Calgary Herald,  "It's something you see in a movie, but you don't think that can happen for real. Especially when you send it into the sea, and it keeps coming back. And that it was a child who found it, close to the age we were when we sent it. It's like a dream."
