Back-to-school time is already looking pretty cool thanks to New York's Brooklyn-born Appaman. The purveyor of cool, street-chic kids' clothes is getting ready to stock store shelves with the first of two Fall/Winter collections next month — and it is full of creative pieces that will have little ones looking great when the first signs of cooler weather blow into town.
A bit more sophisticated that previous Appaman collections, the early-Fall styles are inspired by preppy East Coast school boys. "Ivy on the walls, letterman jackets slung on shoulders, [and] a hint of argyle to bring the message home," Lynn Husum, the company's founder, shared. "But [it] still has that Appaman cool kid peeking through on the returning faves like baseball henleys and hooded henleys." Among our favorite pieces are the argyle sweaters, baseball henleys, a slub pullover that looks like it will be great in the Fall weather, and the Soho polo, which is a casual take on the classic look.
For girls, think a bit more whimsical and fun. Gathered graphic t-shirts hark back to Appaman's original designs, hoodie dresses will look great on their own or over skinny pants, plaid A-line skirts bring some prep-school appeal, and the Carroll shift dress brings some military detail to the traditional look. As usual, the line's outerwear is the star of the show with fabulous varsity bomber jackets; puffy, motorcycle-inspired vests; and the boy's band-inspired Route 1 jacket that he'll be begging to wear even before the weather turns cool. Take a look at our favorite pieces from the collection, and tell us which is your favorite!
