Baby Planners Take Care of All the Baby Business

Once baby is on its way, mamas-to-be get a crash course in child gearing — the rearing comes later. The thin pink line on the pregnancy stick indicates that it's time to prepare. From nursery themes to stretch mark balm and choosing bottles to taking strollers for test rides, the nine months are jam packed with all kinds of activities.

Some women could care less which carrier and diaper cream they end up with while others don't have time to do the research — so two moms made a business out of lessening the pregnant woman's load. Melissa Gould and Ellie Miller founded The Baby Planners, a service that takes care of all those time consuming tasks for a fee. To see what services they offer,

.

Offering The Baby Planners Picks, a list of products they endorse and consulting plans like Post Delivery Plan that can include a personal chef, the Adoption Plan and the Grandparent Plan, the women's packages start at $500. The ladies also provide Concierge Services, which take care of everything from having someone video the baby's birth to searching for a nanny.

Would you invest in their services?

This takes all the excitement and fun of your pregnancy, I loved doing the research and looking for baby stuff. But I guess if your life is just too busy to handle that stuff I guess ok. But then how are they going to find time with their baby?

I was actually talking to my college adviser about this the other day. I would love to become a baby planner. I wonder what sort of credentials you would need

I would 100% invest in this service. Anything to make my life easier. I'm saving this page.

It sounds like a fun job. I have zero interest in hiring someone to help me in this way. I can't explain why, but the idea of it really puts me off.

Why didn't I think of this job? I'd be SO good at it! I love picking out awesome baby products and recommending to friends. Damn! That being said, I wouldn't use it for myself, but I'd love to help those people who would!

That's part of the fun! I mean I definitely look forward to actually having my own baby, but I'm also looking forward to getting ready, picking out things for my baby, designing a nursery. Yes, I'd like advice, but I'd rather get that from friends and family who know me personally and know what I would like! Oh and I agree Greggie. What is the job of grandparents? To love and spoil :) Who needs lessons or pointers on how to do that?!

I guess if you had the money, but who can afford something like that? It seems unnecessary. Also I think part of the process of preparing yourself to be a mom is doing all those things. It kind of eases you into thinking about someone else and realizing that your life is going to change. I could see someone needing help with adoption but that's what your caseworker is for.

That would take all of the fun out of it for me. What on earth is a Grandparent Plan anyway? When they can visit? What authority they have?

No way. I guess for women with busy careers its a great thing, but I am already a stay at home mom of 2 teenagers. If I am lucky to have another I do have time to prepare. My daughter is self sufficient, lives at home, but goes to school and has a life. My son is special needs but he also attends school and I do have hours during the day to do things like baby shop and plan a nursery. If I worked I think I would still do it myself. It would depend on my schedule.
