Baby Poops on Plane

Junior Jetset: Pack a Change of Clothes

On a recent flight across the country with her 10-month-old daughter, a fellow traveler forgot to pack an extra pair of clothes for herself or her tot. Two hours into the flight, her wee one was literally oozing pea colored poo from her britches, which incidentally leaked onto the mother's white designer jeans. Oops!

The flight attendant was less than helpful when he stingily handed her two cocktail napkins to "help" clean the mess. Instead of making a fuss about his lack of concern, as it wasn't his problem, she found another way to get his attention. As she exited the aircraft, she told him, "Oh... there's some poop on the seat in aisle 10. You might want to clean that up!"

I couldn't believe my ears. This mama had guts, in addition to a diaper bag and pants full of poop! What would you do if you were in her position?

I *always* have a change of clothes in the diaper bag. I've been a bone head and forgot an extra bottle once for a quick trip to the doctors office which ended up being hours. So I've learned my lesson to have an extra everything in that bag. Although I've never once thought to have extra clothes on hand for myself. Good idea.

"That's what she gets for wearing white jeans past 1986." That made me laugh really hard. *lol* I wouldn't consider a change of clothes for me on a regular day, but on a plane I always have one.

Yeah, I should clarify that I forgot the extra outfit for baby. I didn't even consider bringing one for me. Live and learn!

I usually have clothes for the 8 month old but never even thought to bring anything for me. Then again I'm accustomed to wearing stuff with spit up on it so I might not be phased. As far as the white jeans go... even if I was a wearer of white pants, I wouldn't be doing it with a baby. My little guy is into everything and constantly making a mess. I am always wearing what he had for his last meal (he loves to sneeze with a mouthful of food).

We just took my baby's first flight a few weeks ago. I was a super organized mom on the way to Detroit and had a change of clothes, but in my hurry to back coming home, I forgot the extra outfit. Sure enough, as we were descending into Denver, my son had a giant blowout on my husband's lap. It leaked everywhere! It was horrible. Fortunately, we were in the front of the plane and my husband was able to wrap and blanket around the mess and was the first one off the plane. While I waited for the stroller, he changed and cleaned up the baby in the terminal. But then we had a naked baby to cart through the airport to baggage claim (it was really embarrassing), where I was able to get him an outfit from my suitcase. I learned my lesson!

I honestly can't think of a time when I didn't have a change of clothes, but I do things like keep one in each car and use a combo purse/diaper bag so it's always with me if I'm out and about. On a plane, even if I'm traveling alone the carry-on contains a change of clothes in case the luggage is lost.

:rotfl: What mom hasn't forgotten to pack a change of clothes once in a while?? Although, for a flight, I would think that would be something that I would double and triple check that I had! I know several flight attendants and they claim this type of thing happens all the time. In fact, one of my flight attendant friends has started packing a package of wipes with her for every trip, to hand out on occasions such as this. However, the flight attendant here was an a$$ - and I love how the mom handled it! Too funny!

I probably just would've cried. However, I bring extra clothes on long trips... When coming home from VA to Seattle last Thanksgiving, I got thrown up on. I had an extra shirt in the diaper bag, but because we were on our decent, I couldn't go change. I did change my daughter though. Then as I was handing my daughter over to my husband so that I could put the pukey clothes away, she threw up all over him. So, we pressed the button and the flight attendant came over and said, "oh, is she sick." Seriously, lady?! Anyway. We had more clothes for my daughter, but didn't change us until we got home...We did have the extra clothes though...

I probably would've said it nicely, because it's not his fault she didn't pack a change of clothes. Yes, he should have provided more than a couple of napkins, but she should've thought ahead as well. I don't even go to Target without a change of clothes, much less on a plane ride. It's just always in the diaper bag.
