Meet the Barber Who's Giving Bad Kids Even Worse Haircuts as Punishment

When "time-out" and "you're grounded!" are no longer proving to be effective punishments for misbehaving kids, Russell Fredrick of A-1 Kutz in Georgia has the perfect solution: give them horrible haircuts. It's not the first instance we've seen of shaming as punishment for kids who break the rules, but it sure is one of the most creative.

Three days a week, fed-up parents can take their little rebels to A-1 Kutz for the Benjamin Button Special, which Fredrick told The Washington Post is the perfect punishment for badly behaved kids who want to "act grown." The style, inspired by the movie of the same name, involves shaving the child's head to give the illusion that he's going bald. Just what every 10-year-old wants. And it won't cost Mom and Dad a thing — Fredrick is offering the cut as a free service in solidarity with other parents.

As a father of three, the barber developed the clever punishment for his 12-year-old, Rushawn, whose grades were suffering at school. He observed a dramatic improvement once Rushawn had his hair cut like an 85-year-old man's.

"There are a few people that are saying it's emotional abuse; but on average, everyone is applauding the mother that brought the child in — and applauding me as well," he told the Post.
