Belly Bandit

Bringing Sexy Back: Belly Bandit

Leaving the maternity ward with a plump tummy and swollen ankles can make even the happiest of new mothers feeling a tad depressed. Most moms expect to exit the hospital feeling a tad more svelte as they shed an entire new body's worth of weight.

For those desperate to bounce back into a lean, mean mama machine, the Belly Bandit may be your best weapon. Eager mothers can use the compression wrap a day after delivery. The binding reduces swelling of the uterus and keeps the bloating from water retention to a minimum. Available in three different styles, Original ($40), Couture ($50), and Bamboo ($60), moms can adopt the stretchy Velcro bound wrap routine for six to eight weeks for tummy firming results.

have not used the belly bandit, but i gave birth less than two weeks ago and have used a similar product. it's amazing how much my tummy has shrunk! i was shocked when i looked at myself in a mirror right after giving birth - it's like a basketball had stretched my tummy w/excess skin hanging out - my mom has this and i was more afraid of this than stretch marks. yes the product i have is bulky and now has deep wrinkles but it does provide good back support as well. I wear it over a belly band so that it's not as itchy. i'm definitely a believer in belly binding. d anna - i wore a larger belly band at night right up to giving birth, it acted as a sort of "bra" to support my bump, especially when i slept on my side!

I wish I had this 15 years ago with my first child. This time around I will definitely use it. Being 37 probably means things won't go back on their own exactly like they were before!

There are a couple of products out there for c section. Binding is definitely important and csection recovery is important for you and baby. Cotton breathes and massage is key. Support yourself so you can heal better. there are other belts that are adjustable and soft. Good luck- your worth it. My belt really helped my abdomen mend- good luck girls!

Belly binding has been around for a long time and is still faithfully used in other cultures. I'm currently pregnant with #5 and looking forward to using something like this postpartum...

No worries, but you have to admit it sounded a little suspicious. :)

Apparently if you are nice on these things you have no credibility? Sorry to say Ann418...I'm real consumer.

Spanx aren't adjustable like this is. As your belly goes down, you can bring this tighter for more and more support, rather than buying various sizes.

wouldn't spanx work the same way as this?

I don't think Bella Bands are nearly as tight as these are. The website describes these as an "abdominal compression binder." They are really tight and put a lot of pressure on your stomach. Bella bands are just fabric.

Has anyone tried the Bella Band for the same purpose? I'm getting ready to deliver, and since I already have 3 Bella Bands, I'd like to use them if they work.

Yes! I forgot about the way it stopped the pulling on the staples/stitches, and put a layer between the incision and clothing. Again, mine wasn't this, it was a plain elastic band. Just the same concept.

i wore the Belly Bandit for 2 months and i found it to be really helpful after I had a c-section. my friend gave this to me as a gift. Before I wore it, every time I would cough, sneeze or try to sit up I thought my stitches would bust open. This band helped to hold everything in place. It also was way more comfortable when wearing pants because it stopped the rubbing against my incision. I also felt I looked better in clothes with it. I tried the babosh one, but it dug into my side and was more money.

babylove4's comment is obvious spam, in my opinion. And I didn't find it painful at all for a c-section, although if misplaced it could be. But placed accurately, it never slipped and worked WONDERS for the incision pain. I hated not being able to wear it.
