Breastfeeding Devices for Dads

Would You Want Your Husband to Use the Man Boob?

It was disturbing enough to hear about grandma trying to nurse her grandson, but can you imagine if grandpa pulled the same stunt with a man boob that Jack Byrnes (Robert De Niro) did in Meet the Fockers?

Men are actually capable of breastfeeding. While it's certainly not common practice, I wonder how many males would be willing to give it a go. I'm not sure how I'd feel if my husband wanted to nurse our child. While it may be biologically possible, I just don't think I could get used to the idea. Even if he used the man–boob device pictured above. Unless there was a medical reason for doing so. A bottle of breastmilk in my hubby's hand seemed to work well enough.

What are your thoughts on male nursing?

For sure I would want my husband to have a device to breast feed our infant. I think sharing the same bonding experience would be good for tem and giving myself a break from the constent demand around the clock would be nice, just an afternoon to shop have lunch and a maybe get my hair and toes done. My son refuses a botttle and is exclusively breast fed so I am at his beck and call.

ok let's just be honest here do you actually think that a newborn will remember this NO! it's the "adults" that would and unless your planning on dropping this on your child when they get older then that is your choice. I breastfed my babies (mother of 3 boys) and let me just say that my hubby was feeling left out of the feedings and believe you me it would have been nice to know I could pass this gift to him in having a "man boob" because face it mommies we all can agree we need a break once in a while. So you know what I totally agree with this. I am a huge supporter of breastfeeding and breastfeeding in public, etc. If your man is willing to step up to the plate and support you in this well let's just say YOUR BLESSED! Because face it some men refuse to do this. As the saying goes real men love Jesus. REAL MEN SUPPORT BREASTFEEDING and this goes beyond the call of duty for men. Kudo's for the men who would be willing to strap this on and support the breastfeeding momma of your child.

The photos is completely misleading. I think the point of this post to address the fact that men can actually lactate and use their own breasts to feed an infant. While I am sure my husband would never want to do this, I wouldn't have a problem with men who choose to try it out and wife or partners who don't mind. To each their own.

If my man wanted to use this device, then I suppose I would at least let him try it; he has to have some say, after all. But I think I would at the very least prefer to just give him a bottle of breast milk.

Absolutely not, that's disturbing. And just a tad bit emasculating. Although I'm not a mom and might agree with nevadamntbear once I become one!

Doesn't the bonding come from having the baby on your bare skin? The warmth, the smell, etc... If so, the man boob is kinda missing the point.

Why bother? He gets the same benefit from holding a bottling and cradling her. All these are is a couple of bottles strapped to him.

Give a dad a bottle of pumped breast milk, that is just too weird.

This is so weird, although Robert DeNiro made it look pretty funny.

Dude, which that much milk, that man should be feeding an army of babies. WHAT? I especially like the "girly" touch of the pink ribbon holding the man boobs.Good lord. This is just crazy. Thought, maybe men would be a bit more empathatic if they had cracked and bleeding nipples while learning to breastfeed, had the burning sensation of an infection, had the weight of ginormous knockers tuggging on their backs, woke up soaking wet in the middle of the night from leaking .... That might make it worthwhile.
