Bridget Moynahan on Single Motherhood

Bridget Moynahan Didn't Have Picket Fence Fantasy; Did You?

Not all moms need marriage and the carriage. Self magazine's August cover girl, Bridget Moynahan, didn't. Though she and ex Tom Brady split before their son John, 2, was born, the actress's social life wasn't affected. She said:

When I was six months pregnant, my belly was like an enormous watermelon. But it didn't hamper my dating life! I do look at men differently now; there's a whole category that isn't in the running: somebody who doesn't want a family. And, while I'd love to have more children, I'm not sure I want another on my own. One is portable; two are not. Anyone I date is going to have an open heart. I never had the fantasy that I was going to get married and have three kids and live in a house with a white picket fence. I couldn't ask to be in a better place right now, and there were multiple things that made all this — having a beautiful son and work I'm proud of and supportive friends — come true.

All women don't buy into the conventional dream; did you?

I think that people have different pov as time goes on. I know I do :) But yeah, I grew up with that white picket fence dream. That's being installed in my head by good ol' parents :D Of course, the idea changes in time and I grow to realize that there are many other happy alternatives to the 'white picked fence' approach :) Good for her to accept her family life.

It's possible she was still getting over her break up with Tom; I'm sure it was hard but it doesn't mean either of them is a bad person maybe that's just how it worked out and that's what she means or was trying to say.

I don't think it sounds at all like she regrets having her baby... 1 kid is great! and as for crying after she had him...totally normal! many women feel overwhelmed by the responsibility of having a newborn. It's a lot of work!

I may have a different idea about marriage than most people, but I would like to have kids some day, and I definitely like being married. Mrs Moynahan kind of sounds like she regrets having this baby. That's not a very nice thing to say in public. I'm sure her kid won't appreciate it when they read it one day :(

here's the article i mentioned http://www.harpersbazaar.com/magazine/feature-articles/bridget-moynahan-interview-0708?src=syn&dom=yah_life&mag=har he first thing Bridget Moynahan did when she returned home from the hospital last August with her newborn son, Jack, was cry. Uncontrollably. “Everyone says, ‘You give birth, you go home, and you have this amazing baby and it’s just beautiful,’” says the 37-year-old Massachusetts-raised model turned actress. “And I walked in and I just started sobbing.” and “I’m a traditional girl, and I believe in marriage, and I just always thought that’s the way I’d be doing this. For a moment, it was hard for me to accept that this was the way I was going to have a family. I’ve had to recognize that there are just so many different options today.”

This is the exact opposite of an interview she gave about a year ago. She claimed she was devastated at being put in the position of being a single mom and had spent countless hours crying about it. Hummm. Why the spin?
