Chinese Police Track Down 178 Kidnapped Children

Can you imagine living with the constant fear that your child will be snatched and sold to strangers on the other side of the country? Or that police will be indifferent to your pleas for help?

That was apparently the case for parents in China until police began cracking down on the country's many child trafficking rings two years ago. They have just rescued 178 kids, most of them boys, and arrested 600 people who were involved with their disappearances.

The rescued children are now in the care of female police officers and will be placed in orphanages until their parents are contacted. Meanwhile, China is trying to lower the demand for stolen babies and toddlers by changing its adoption laws.
