Circumcision Laws

Circumcision Will Not Be Banned in California Anytime Soon

To cut or not to cut? That's the choice parents of newborn boys face when deciding whether circumcision is the right choice for them. It's a choice that a lot of people, often referring to themselves as "intactivists," don't feel parents should have. Anticircumcision groups in San Francisco gathered over 7,000 signatures in support of a ballot measure that would essentially outlaw circumcision for most male children. The measure was shot down Sunday night when the governor signed a bill prohibiting local governments from banning the controversial practice, leaving the decision to the parents.

holy biased poll. if your poll is going to be so ridiculous at least add an 'other.' "intactivists" aren't at all anti-choice, nor do they care whether the elective, irreversible procedure is 'outdated'. also, they are not asking for a ban on male circumcision, just a ban on parents deciding for infants. the whole point is to be pro-choice and let the man decide for himself how he would like his penis to look and feel, again, because the procedure is IRREVERSIBLE. this probably would never have become an issue if there weren't actual circumcised men who have had resulting penile problems and thus resent the elective procedure having been done on them.
