Dad Writes Powerful Note to the Woman Who Called Him a "Child" For Goofing Around With His Kids

Charlie Capen was joking around with his two kids at the grocery store when an onlooker came up to his family and said to his wife, "Did you know you have three kids?" The remark, which would have taken anyone off guard, definitely took this dad by surprise. Although it left him speechless in the moment, Charlie later took to Facebook to share his real feelings.

The dad wrote a saucy "apology" letter to the woman who shamed him for goofing around with his kids. "I'm sorry I didn't tell you that I love my kids but don't consider myself one," he wrote. "I'm sorry you can't tell the difference between having a good time with your kids and being immature. I'm sorry if you think men are irresponsible or babysitters, but that's an outdated way of thinking. More than anything, I'm sorry for the men in your life who've convinced you of this idea."

Charlie's Facebook post highlights the larger issue that dads are often seen as immature babysitters when they are anything but. They're just as capable of parenting as women and often don't receive enough credit for it. Charlie wrote that he wasn't insulted or offended by the woman's comment, just "disappointed" because her remark puts men in a box that simply "reduces us down to being simple and incompetent." The dad went on to say that making his children laugh isn't a crime and that no matter what happens, he will continue to support his wife and children, including making "the occasional fart joke."
