Dehydration From Breastfeeding

Why Didn't Anybody Tell Me: Dry Nose

I've never been thirstier in my life than when I nursed my baby. Many early morning feedings left me feeling like a camel in a desert. Much to my surprise, breastfeeding literally sucked me dry in more than one (or two) places.

At every meal, I kept a large glass of water on the table next to my glider. Throughout the day, I continued to guzzle the clear beverage. No matter how much I consumed, it never seemed like enough. While I sweat my way through nursing, my eyes and nose also felt the deployment of bodily fluids. My eyes felt like parched plants, and my nose resembled a clay pot that had been overcooked in a kiln. One tap with a finger and I thought it would crumble. A humidifier helped me out some, but the best cure for an arid mama was more water.
