Delilicious: French Toast For Every Day

Delilicious: Shortcut to French Toast on a Daily Basis

A friend was recently telling me how her eighteen-month-old son loves French toast. He gobbles it up every time she makes it. He loves the taste and she is glad he gets a hearty breakfast. Since she's a working mama who has to fly out of the house in the mornings, she came up with a shortcut that doesn't rely on the frozen food aisle.

She takes slices of whole wheat sandwich bread, dunks them in a bowl filled with the milk, egg, and cinnamon mixture, and then fries them up five slices at a time before freezing them. While she dresses for the office, she takes a slice from the fridge and pops it in the toaster to warm for her wee one.

lol...waffles are flour, eggs, and milk, and we eat them with fruit or plain... not really sure where the so unhealthy comes in. I'd rather have homemade waffles or pancakes then constantly give my kids sugary cereals or greasy meats like most people, to me those are things that are more important to limit.

It all sounds so unhealthy. Waffles, Pancakes, French Toast? Those things are a treat to me, I would never think of eating them fr breakfast.

Yup, I do this with waffles too, although, I cook breakfast every morning and it hardly takes more then half an hour, dishes time not included. I cant really say its a time sink, and you might want to get up earlier in the mornings if you are constantly rushing around.

This works with pancakes, too! I make a huge batch, cool leftovers, and freeze them in big zip lock bags with parchment paper b/t each pancake. You can pop 'em in the toaster, toaster oven, or even microwave for a few seconds, and you've got quick, easy, fluffy pancakes any morning. presto! stacie chowmama.com
