Length of Pregnancy Can Vary by 5 Weeks

While a developing baby is supposedly full term at 40 weeks, a healthy pregnancy can vary by as much as five weeks, suggesting that giving women an exact due date may not be a good way to communicate pregnancy duration. According to a study published in the journal Human Reproduction, even when doctors know the exact date of conception, healthy pregnancies can last from 38 to 43 weeks. Despite the data, some experts are critical of the study.
