Evenflo is issuing a voluntary recall of 56,000 of its Transitions 3-in-1 Car Seats [1] after reports that the Central Front Adjuster (CFA) — the piece used to loosen the harness — is within reach of the child restrained in the seat, which could result in the child loosening their own straps while in motion. The Transitions seats involved in the recall were manufactured prior to Jan. 29, 2016, and come in a variety of colors.

No injuries have occurred as a result of this potential safety concern, nor does it affect the structural integrity of the Transitions seat in a crash. Additionally, parents can continue to use the seat safely in high-back belt-positioning booster mode and no-back belt-positioning booster mode, as the only mode affected is the forward-facing harnessed booster mode. Evenflo is providing a free remedy kit that will "virtually eliminate a child's access and activation of the CFA" and includes replacement parts as well as installation instructions.
