If spend your nights reading Dr. Seuss books to your little one, then you may need a break from all that tongue-twisting jargon. Luckily, PBS knows a lot about that! In honor of Dr. Seuss's birthday, the network will air a week's worth of TV specials featuring his most beloved character, the Cat in the Hat. Dr. Seuss's Birthday Cat-ebration begins Monday, March 3 with a one-hour special that follows Cat, Nick, and Sally as they learn about a variety of animal attributes. The event continues with new episodes of The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That on Tuesday and Wednesday, with each episode focusing on a science theme, such as making glass from sand or turning cotton fibers into clothes.
But the party doesn't stop when the episodes end. PBS will release an online game, Marbelous Marvel Coaster, which allows kids to create their own Seussian rollercoasters using open-ended play and engineering skills.
"We hope to inspire kids and stimulate their imaginations with a week of natural science exploration," said Lesli Rotenberg, general manager of PBS children's programming.
