The 6 Most Memorable Family Moments From the Olympics

During the coverage of this Summer's Olympics, we've been watching the USA athletes crushing it event after event. And though we love watching Simone Biles flipping effortlessly across the floor and Michael Phelps gliding smoothly past his competition in the pool (and in total medal count), some of the most memorable moments of this year's Games involved the loved ones of the athletes going for gold.

Five-year-old Lucas watched his mom become the first athlete to win the same Olympic cycling event three times in a row and jumped into her arms right after. Armstrong says that he asked her, "Mama, why are you crying? You won!" and she told him, "That's what we do; we cry when we're happy."

There has been a lot of press surrounding Simone Biles's adoption story during this Olympics, but Biles summed up her family tree in eight simple words: "My parents are my parents and that's it." Their love and pride they have for Simone is completely evident, and it was been exciting to cheer along with them as we all watched her go for the gold.

Michael Phelps's 3-month-old son, Boomer, may have won more hearts than his dad during these Olympic Games. Watching on the sidelines with his mom, Nicole Johnson, and grandma, Debbie Phelps, little Boomer has been his gold-medalist daddy's number one fan, and this kiss between the two of them was unbearably cute.

It all started when he was eight years old and frustrated by losing races to older swimmers. His dad told him, "You've got to build your confidence yourself and say eff everybody else that you're racing. . . . Every time you're behind the blocks, give me the finger and I'll give it back to you."
