Father Wears Skirts to Support Son

Father Wears Skirts to Support Son

German dad Nils Pickert is making waves for choosing to wear skirts and dresses in public. But as he explains in the Huffington Post, his choice isn't a bid for attention — he's simply trying to be be the role model his child needs.

Pickert's 5-year-old son sometimes likes to wear his older sister's outgrown dresses, and Pickert decided to also "get all skirted up" as a public show of support for his son. His bold choice led to an interview in German publication EMMA, and after the story was picked up in the United States, Pickert decided to speak out about his motive. The role of a parent, he says, is to be supportive of your child, especially when the world may not be:

"I will confess that I don't particularly like wearing skirts or dresses. I'm like a soccer mom who doesn't love the sport -- but does love her kids."

Not sure if I would be ok with my husband doing this or my 5 year old son but think this father should be commended not criticized. As for the person who wrote about the child becoming homosexual or bisexual you have not been around too many children under 7. I spent 20 years observing little boys play with dolls and dress up. None of these have turned out anything other than hetrosexual. Girls often wear shorts or pants and play with cars no one comments about this. Let children just explore and have fun.
