Firefighter Mom Breastfeeding in Uniform

You're About to See This Photo of a Firefighter Breastfeeding in Uniform Everywhere

If you weren't moved by the now-viral photo of 10 active-duty military moms breastfeeding their infant babies, you have permission to stop reading. That image was a groundbreaking one — it showed not just how far we've come as a society, but it also proved the strength and determination of women, of mothers.

"The response was overwhelming and not just because it was an active-duty photo but because every working mom saw herself in that photo," photographer Tara Ruby, who orchestrated that shoot, told POPSUGAR.

It was such positive feedback that inspired her to begin a new portrait series for the "mother who has to put on a uniform every day to go to work but that still nurses her babies at night." Her first subject? This firefighter, in head-to-toe tactical gear, breastfeeding her newborn baby.

The post has already taken off on Facebook, where readers are sharing the one word it brings to mind, from "pride" to "service" to "bravery." We'll add one more to the mix: breathtaking.
