Holidays at Amusement Parks

Celebrate Christmas at an Amusement Park

Amusement parks may not scream Winter getaway, but these summertime hot spots are the perfect place to get in the holiday spirit. From larger-than-life decorations to special shows, your family will have no trouble making winter memories at any of these 10 destinations. Take a trip to one of these amusement parks for a fun and festive vacation.

Walt Disney World

The Magic Kingdom turns into a winter wonderland for Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party. Families can feast on holiday treats and watch their favorite characters walk in the Once Upon a Christmas parade. For a more cultural Christmas, travel to Epcot and see how different countries celebrate the special holiday.

Sesame Place

On weekends in December, the Sesame Street gang gets together for some spectacular celebrations. Families can walk the light-lined streets and sit in on one of five holiday-themed shows. Show up on a Saturday, and kids can enjoy milk and cookies with a very special guest (spoiler alert: it's Santa!).

Six Flags

There are tons of holiday activities at Six Flags. After a relaxing stroll through Candy Cane Lane, kids can head to the Cookie Decorating Room and create a festive treat. For nighttime entertainment, check out the Main Street Festival of lights.

See how other parks celebrate the season!

LEGOLAND

It may not snow in the south, but is does at LEGOLAND. During the day, kids can go sledding and build snowmen with LEGO accessories, while the Jingle Jammers play some festive tunes. But don't leave before sunset or you'll miss the holiday light show.

Hersheypark

During December, this Pennsylvania park transforms into Christmas Candylane. After a quick visit with Santa's reindeer, families can sing and dance along to the Rockin' Music Box Christmas show.

Knott's Berry Farm

Lavish decorations are only part of the holiday magic at Knott's Berry Farm. Attend a festive ice show at the Charles M. Schulz Theatre, participate in the craft fair, or have breakfast with Santa.

Great Wolf Lodge

For a one-of-a-kind, festive dining experience, take a trip to Great Wolf Lodge. Families can dine in the park's life-size gingerbread house, with all proceeds benefiting Big Brothers Big Sisters. After your meal, kids can attend North Pole University, where they must complete four fun activities to earn their "snowploma."

Busch Gardens

Bush Gardens' Christmas Town is a must-see during the holidays. For the best view, hop on the Christmas Town Express, a sing-along train ride that takes families through the snow-covered park

Sea World

Celebrate Christmas under the sea. Well, sort of. Sea World offers several holiday shows during the Winter months, like the sparkly ice skating show, Winter Wonderland on Ice.

Disneyland

The happiest place on Earth gets a whole lot happier around the holidays. During the day, take in the sights and sounds as the Main Street carolers perform their version of traditional holiday tunes. At night, walk over to Paradise Bay for a Winter light show.
