We used olive oil and a baby toothbrush and after about two weeks it was gone - it was a messy process, but it worked for us!

I didn't find olive oil helpful at at. We used Seborrheic dermatitis shampoo and did a gentle brushing while in the bath and it cleared up in a few weeks.

fyi, we used the mustela foaming cradle cap shampoo for a severe case, and it was gone within a few weeks. highly recommended - olive oil might get the flakes off but it helps them recur because they are caused by oil overproduction - the last thing you want to do is add more oil!
