Many Brooklyn Dads Want to Be Called "Papa" Because It's More Unique Than "Dad"

Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony Raise Twins On Their Own

New mama Jennifer Lopez won't be searching for a Mary Poppins to help with the daily duties of raising three-month-old twins, Max and Emme. According to Access Hollywood, the triple threat and her husband, Marc Anthony are doing something rather unconventional when it comes to the rich and famous — juggling their careers and the tasks of child-rearing alone. He said:

“She expects me to help and she makes no bones about it,” Marc said. “I get the late shift. I get literally from 10 PM because we don’t have a nanny. It’s just me and Jennifer figuring it out. From 10 PM to 8 [AM], that’s my shift”

And, unlike many stars who hit the gym before they head to Gymboree, the actress is less concerned with her postpartum bod than bonding with her children. Marc said:

“Yeah, yes she is, but she’s more in mommy mode,” Marc said. “She has three movies lined up and she’s eager to go back to work, but the babies have been a blessing all the way around and she’s just amazing. She’s such an amazing mom and I’m so proud of her. She’s such a gem to watch.”

Do you admire the couple's decision to raise their family on their own?

I don't believe for a second that a diva like JLo doesn't have any help. :oy:

Crazyana Well I work pretty hard myself and so does my husband and we never used a nanny. Just because they can afford a nanny doesn't mean they should be praised for not having one. Lots of people raise their own kids and yes we should celebrate parenthood, but putting people on a special level because they are raising their own kids is not right - lots of people do it.

I'm not surprised by this at all. Jennifer wanted children for so long and she had such a hard time trying to get pregnant for years with no luck I'm sure she's very grateful that she actually got the opportunity to have babies and wants to take advantage of every moment. Had things been different maybe she would have resorted to nannies because she can afford that luxury.

Jennijen but the diffrence is that they are not regualr people.ofcourse we all raise our own kids!but they are celebs and realy work hard that they dont have enough time.they could affrod 10 nannies but they decided to do it by their own and this has to be praised!im sure if i had what J.LO has i woulndt be raising my kids all by my own.but then again having children is what she wanted the most so she is cherishin every second of it!but if she ever wants a baby-sitter im ready to apply for it! ;)

humm, we'll see how long it lasts, or if it's true. i remember seeing an actress on a late night talk show (leno?) and the host said soemthing like "so no nanny!?" and she said "yeah, we weren't going to get one but then she wasn't sleeping through the night and so yeah we did get a nanny". these people are so far removed from reality that they don't know what they are getting into.also, the talk about these people with tiny babies being "good moms" is absurd. you need to be a parent for more than 5 minutes before the verdict is in on what kind of parent you are.

Hold up. Parents raising their kids without the help of a nanny? Did they alert the 10:00 news?! How can you say "she has 3 movies coming out" and "she's in mommy mode" in the same sentence? Also, Marc raised his boys with Dayanara, so aside from this being 2 babies at once, what's to figure out? He had the "night shift" then, because he's a night owl. I don't buy it as it is. Marc, yes. JLo? Nope. She's not the selfless type to me.

Good for them. With their money and high profile i must be hard to resist the lure of nannies--especially with twins.Of course, they probably do have a cook, housekeeper, driver, personal assistants etc.

If it's true, I do admire them because if I had twins and I could afford it you better believe I would hire some help. I would still spend most of the time with my children and bond with them, but a bit of help never hurt anybody. I honestly feel bad for Mark if he gets the night shift every night. During the day the kids sleep a lot and I personally think it's easier.

I don't know if they deserve admiration, by its nice to see a hollywood couple not use a nanny (if its true). I have more admiration for a regular couple with twins because they don't have the luxury of millions of dollars and pick-and-choose jobs.

People raising their own children?! Let's award them a medal of honor or something!

Like I believe this! And, if it is true, I don't admire them anymore than I admire any other parent out there - they are your KIDS! You are SUPPOSED to raise them!

I seriously do not believe they have no help with the twins. They had night nurses the first couple of months and I bet they still do have some help. I don't know, I just don't get an "honesty" vibe from them at all for some reason.

I'm thinking they can do it, I really am....I don't know these people to save my life but Jennifer has wanted babies for a long long time and now she finally has what she has always wanted her twins....I think her and Marc can raise these babies by themselves if they want to, it's called 'parenting', I think it is ridiculous anyways that every Hollywood star has a handful of nannies, what's the point in being a mother and saying you've always been there? Jennifer just wants to be there like normal mothers, being as busy as she is though, it won't be easy, but no one said having twins was easy....I support them both 100%.

I don't think they belong on a pedestal, to be sure, but even though I love being my daughter's caregiver I wouldn't mind someone else changing diapers if I had the dough- just like I would have a personal chef if I didn't feel like cooking, a driver if I didn't feel like driving etc. Those first few months are so precious and full of wonderful memories that I think it's lovely they are taking full advantage. But money buys you lots of things, and sometimes that means only having to do the fun part of parenting, too. BTW, did anyone else notice his shift is shorter than hers? and aren't those babies sleeping through the night yet? Seems like in that family, like in most, Mom is carrying most of the burden :p

I agree. I give them props for doing it on their own but it isn't anything spectacular. Most people have to do it on their own.
