Jenny McCarthy Singled Out for Raising Autism Awareness

Over the weekend, Jenny McCarthy was singled out for raising autism awareness. The dating-show host turned author wrote Louder Than Words: A Mother's Journey in Healing Autism about her experience with son, Evan.

Jenny received the Trailblazer Award at 2008 Gridiron Glamour, a celebrity fashion show, benefit, and auction that raised money for autism research. The event was hosted by Holly Robinson Peete and Rodney Peete, whose son, Rodney, Jr., was also diagnosed with autism.

To learn more about Jenny and Holly's work,

.

According to Access Hollywood, Robinson Peete said:

“Someone called us the ‘Thelma & Louise’ of autism,” Holly joked of her work with Jenny. “From the moment she called me and we talked about her son, we made a game plan and said no one else is talking about this. We know there are celebrities in Hollywood who have autistic children, so we felt it was important to talk about it.”

I can vouch that my son's vaccinations had zip zero nada nothing to do with his Autism. That being said, his younger sister was NOT vaccinated. I laughed in the nurse's face when she said I "had" to let them giver her HepB at birth....Yeah rightKudos to Jenny& if you READ her book you'd know that she doesn't blame vaccinations for her child's autism, but she DOES advocate choice in your child's healthcare

why does a newborn need a hepb vaccine? why when 95% of children are fully immune after 2 jabs do we give a third "just to cover that 5%" for the htp, why when thimerosal is mercury based and no longer allowed to be used in childrens vaccines have the vaccines already on the shelves containing it not been removed? and btw, you can't use that in animal vaccines, it's illegal!the medical profession banks on percentages and if they don't work in your favor "sorry..next". vaccines caused my oldest daughters autism. i don't know what happened at anyone else's house, i wasn't there, but i know what happened at mine. before vaccines; happy responsive child. after each vaccine; more and more withdrawn, loss of speech, loss of eye contact, etc. it was like watching her fall off a cliff and you know the worst part; she knew she was going. she would get so frustrated at not being able to play the games, at not being able to understand what i was saying, to do what her younger sister was doing. and then one day she was just totally gone and remembered nothing. not how to drink from a straw, not how to go up or down stairs, not how to bounce a ball, use a fork, talk, what her name was. parents should be scared to give them to their kids; they are poison. not every child needs every vaccine.if autism is the "silent epidemic" it's only because no one wants to hear about it. trust me, the parents are screaming as loud as we can.

Milosmommy,Are you referring to Holly and Jenny? From, everything I have seen they have been very careful to state that each child is different. Also, Jenny said that she doesn't think vaccines are bad, she thinks there should be more studies done on them and perhaps that a one size fits all approach isn't the best idea when you're dealing with infants. I find it very scary that a 10lb baby gets the same shot as a 20lb baby. I think if mothers and doctors could work together instead of getting defensive we would make greater strides towards finding a cure.

I have worked with autistic kids and truly applaud their efforts. I do however get annoyed at the fact that they scare moms into not giving their kids needed vaccines.
