Joshua Duggar Will Follow His Parents' Example

Joshua Duggar Will Follow His Parents' Example

In an episode of Seventeen Kids and Counting, Joshua Duggar, 20, joked that he and his wife, Anna, hadn't picked their letter yet. The eldest son of Jim Bob and Michelle, who are well known for their big brood all named with "J", might have to start thinking. The newlyweds, who waited until their wedding day to kiss, made a vow to leave their number of offspring up to God. People reported:

"I would welcome a big family," Joshua says. "My parents have been wonderful examples." Adds Anna: "I would love to have as many children as God would bless us with. Growing up in a large family, and Joshua in a mega-family, you learn so much more. I think a large family helps you prepare for life."

The couple's September wedding airs on TLC on Jan. 25.

Notice the title? Wanna know what makes me angry? All these people like you that have posted comments! It sounds like the majority of you haven't even watched the show. I am a mother of 5! Yes, 5! I regret to say that I'm not able to birth anymore children. It's not a past-time, or a hobby. If any of you knew what it was to truly have a heart for God, LIKE MICHELLE DUGGAR--you would understand how she can continue to FILL her home with love, while teaching the children the same. I never seen a family with 2 kids much less 18 that have managed to instill such wonderful values, and GENUINE love for one another. In today's world, people with morals are labeled "weirdos, and freaks." That disgusts me! These children haven't lost their childhood, they seem more articulate and intelligent than most kids I come in contact with and their MOTHER is the only teacher they ever had! As for those of you who think they have some "get rich quick scheme" for doing the show and building their WELL-DESERVED new home--think again! Again I say, you obviously don't watch the show! They boys and Jim Bob worked on that house for years, and built it themselves. They are debt free!! Debt free!! Why? Again, they honored God FIRST! I know it must seem like a foreign concept to most of America these days, but the scriptures still remain true. That is what the Duggars live their life by. As for Josh & Anna, I pray to God that their marriage is blessed and so are their many children. I can only hope that ALL the children do follow in their footsteps, and somehow maybe all those positive attitudes will out way all you negative people in the world. I have the DEEPEST admiration for Jim Bob and Michelle. They have obviously learned a secret most of us haven't--how to TRULY love one another. The sad realization is that if those of you with your rude comments would have to say this to Michelle's face, she would just smile, and simply say" I'll pray for you." She has the patience of a saint. Take a closer look at Kate, ( for those of you who think that's more realistic) if you were a child --ask yourself who you would rather have as a mother. I wish I had the funds to give a copy of their book--20 and Counting to all of you. You need to take a closer look. Let ye that is WITHOUT sin cast the first stone. Know what book that comes from? Bet Michelle Duggar does!

hmcmcd- I agree. The older kids are being robbed of a childhood. I don't believe ANY of these children get the attention they need & deserve from their parents.

ally14, same here. I couldn't watch the whole episode(between the mother's voice and the museum crap). These kids are so sheltered. I can't even imagine how they're going to react to the REAL world once they get out of the house. The mom's always so happy. Is she on Xanax?! Her voice is nauseating. I can't imagine birthing THAT many children, it's just disgusting.

I think they are an inspiration, yes a bit strange but a loving caring family with values, morals and they take care of themselves, to some people that is creepy i suppose.

I agree this family completely creeps me out and I personally find it bordering on abuse or at the least neglect to have this many children. Obviously the mother and father can not take care of all them and so the responsibility is passed on to the older children. There are 4 kids in my family and occasionally my brother did babysit us when my parents wanted to go out, we all had chores and helped out around the house, so I have no problem with any of that. The problem is that in the Dugger's family it the younger children literally become the responsibility of the older children. THAT is completely irresponsible parenting if you ask me...It is the PARENTS responsibility to raise their children not the other kids!

to me, it wouldn't be so strange if mrs. duggar was just really fertile, but they start talking about the next baby as soon as she delivers the last one; as in the same week. i'm convinced that it's some kind of addiction, it's like a competition to them. i'm glad they aren't on public assistance but they still creep me out, lol. what i have seen is that everything in their home runs smoothly and the children are well cared for, but it's a little to compound like for me. as for jr. following in his parents steps, not everyone can get pregnant at the drop of a hat and not everyone is cut out to be parents to that many children. they should see how they do as each child comes along, and if any of their children have special needs take that into consideration. finances aren't the only resources that should be taken into consideration. emotionally and physically and time wise, some kids require more.

I don't find these people creepy. Its their lives they can have as many kids as they wish. I wouldn't have 18 kids, but w/e floats their boat.

I agree, GirlC. They can afford their children and their lifestyle, so I think they can do whatever they want with their children and their land. So many people are irresponsible, then expect other people to take care of their children.

The one thing I'll give this family credit for is that they don't rely on public assistance.
